Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outpatient cardiology clinic, providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires strong administrative skills, familiarity with medical terminology, privacy and healthcare regulations and experience with electronic medical records systems.
Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems with superior accuracy and attention to detail
- Assist with the completion, tracking, reconciling and auditing of physician orders, requisitions and requests
- Handle incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
- Facilitate clinical flow for multiple providers including rooming patients, performing ECG, taking blood pressure readings and recording vitals and medication lists
- Support clinical staff by preparing examination rooms and ensuring necessary supplies are stocked.
- Collaborate with management and team to ensure efficient office operations.
Qualifications
- Ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in healthcare
- Experience in cardiology setting an asset
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills and work ethic
- Willingness to learn, excel and achieve personal goals
- Strong administrative skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for effective communication
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt and work within a fast-paced environment, capable of prioritizing and completing many assignments and tasks while maintaining professionalism and contributing to a positive culture
- Understanding and adherence to all applicable privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations
