Job Overview:
The successful candidate will be respectful, compassionate, highly motivated, positive, and professional. Roles and responsibilities will be shared with other Medical Office Assistants to perform a variety of tasks related to supporting healthcare professionals, patients, and administrative activities. Further, the MOA will be responsible for managing communication and liaising with internal teams, external clinics, and patients. You would be required to work collaboratively as a team member and to work independently, completing multiple clinical tasks throughout the day.
Key responsibilities
Reception:
- Greeting all patients upon arrival or over the telephone.
- Responsible to responding to patient inquiries.
- Patient registration, booking, confirming, and rescheduling patient appointments.
- Confirming patient appointment & procedures, ensuring that necessary preparation instructions are conveyed
- Ensure that patient reports, tests, and labs are properly organized & input into the patient’s charts
- Provide administrative support to the Physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Faxing, mailing and/or scanning correspondence or patient results.
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and coordination of appointments.
- Ensures patient confidentiality.
- Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks, as required.
- Ensure clear communications with physicians and other healthcare professionals as required in the course of patient care, diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains orderly electronic patient records, handles all patient-related information in compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA), Privacy policies and procedures, and all other C-health established policies.
- Follow standards of cleanliness & safety.
- Participation in continuous training within C-health’s protocols.
Clinical Duties:
- Room patients for consultation, follow-up/testing appointments prior to seeing physician.
- Obtain 12-lead ECG and vitals (including but not limited to: height, weight, waist circumference, pulse, blood pressure, SpO2, and temperature) as necessary.
- Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of vitals, patient assessment(s), medication regime(s), and overall physical status as per clinical policy.
- Access Alberta Netcare for up-to-date patient medications, labs and relevant testings as needed.
Communication:
- Proficiency in utilization of Alberta Netcare, Accuro, and Microsoft Office systems.
- Demonstrates clear, effective, communication skills, exhibits kindness and professionalism when interacting with patients, healthcare professionals and team members.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of recognized Medical Office Assistant program.
- Flexibility and an ability to react quickly in a fluid and fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow.
- Strong communicator.
