What is the role?
Shape the foundation of excellence in construction. Join us as a Materials Tester where your expertise ensures the highest standards. Contribute to our commitment to quality, precision, and the success of construction projects through meticulous testing and quality control measures. You will be responsible for conducting a variety of Field and Lab quality control on Projects basis. Project will be near Camrose and surrounding areas. Duties are:
- Perform quality control and quality assurance on a wide variety of laboratory and field projects including aggregate production or asphalt and field density programs
- Complete comprehensive evaluations of all specifications on projects and ensure that all work meets such specifications
- Assist personnel in setting up or calibrating and troubleshooting the production process
- Test road construction materials such as asphalt concrete pavement and granular base
- Mentor junior technologists to help develop their skills
- Work directly with supervisory personnel to ensure the quality of all materials
- Develop and maintain a database for all test results
- Ensure timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentation
- Work with quality control manager to address quality issues and take a proactive role in resolving problems
- Identify and increase efficiency and improve earnings. Forward all ideas and suggestions to the Quality Control Team
- Ensure safety standards/training are in compliance with Corporate Safety Program
- Liaise with the Safety Management team to keep up to date in applicable health, safety and environmental regulations
- Ensure that all health and safety standards meet legislated requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety standards are adhered to
- Ensure safety meetings, quarterly job inspections, hazards assessments and incident reports are completed in a timely fashion as required
What do we value?
- 2+ years of related materials testing experience including aggregate, and asphalt
- Fundamental understanding of road construction materials and practices
- Minimum Class 5 Driver's license with an acceptable abstract
- IRI Smoothness Testing- a high degree of computer skills is required to calibrate, operate, and electronically report the test results
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Methodical in conducting the materials testing
- Able to work under minimum supervision
- Consistent in following procedures/process
