Job Title: Material Handler
The material handler will work closely with the CNC Laser operator to get parts cut and shipped to our customers with a high level of efficiency and quality. This role is responsible for keeping the laser cutting area supplied with the raw material required to complete each job and packaging finished goods for shipping so that production is uninterrupted.
Primary responsibilities:
- Keeping the laser supplied with raw material required for upcoming jobs
- Removing finished parts from the laser
- Cleaning and deburring finished parts with a grinder
- Removing and organizing scrap material after cutting so it is easy to retrieve for the next job
- Packaging, counting, and weighing parts for shipping
- Loading and unloading shipments, operate forklift and other material handling equipment
- Maintain safe work practices
Knowledge and skill requirements:
- Experience in sheet metal manufacturing considered an asset
- Knowledge of sheet metal (i.e., Gauges and thicknesses, grades and finishes of steel, stainless steel and aluminum) considered an asset
- Forklift experience preferred or ability to learn
- Ability to identify and measure raw material
- Experience with basic hand and power tools
- Fluent in metric and imperial measures
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of standard safety practices
- Must have steel toe shoes
Other opportunities and responsibilities may include:
· Training on operating the CNC Laser
· Training on operating stamping equipment and brakes
Job Type: Full-time (40hrs/week)
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00am – 5:15pm
Hourly Wage & Benefits: Starting at $17-$18/hr, reviewable after 3 months probation
