Manager, Student Services, Edwards School of Business
Primary Purpose: To develop, implement and evaluate strategies for delivery of undergraduate student services within the Edwards School of Business. The manager will oversee the student life cycle, awards administration, supervise the daily activities of the undergraduate programs advisors and build and enhance relationships with key school stakeholders.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director, Undergraduate Programs and Career Services, this position will be responsible for managing the undergraduate student success. The position is situated in a student-centered, service-oriented environment, and the person in the position will be subject to competing interests, multiple projects, and tight deadlines. The position requires significant interaction with students, faculty, staff, and other administrative personnel on campus.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
- Works in conjunction with the Director to develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies for different student groups including Domestic, Indigenous, and International
- Works in conjunction with the Director to develop, implement, and evaluate retention strategies to enhance the undergraduate student experience for different student groups including Domestic, Indigenous, and International
- Directs activities and supervises the undergraduate and certificate programs advisors, motivating them to work effectively; providing opportunities for career development and advancement; tracking vacation days, sick days and EDOs; and evaluating performance to provide timely and constructive feedback
- Builds relationships and serves on committees with managers, advisors, and administrators across campus to ensure that Edwards is engaged and informed of changing student service policies and practices
- Participates in the student advising function and evaluates opportunities to adopt best practices, organize workflow and identify process improvements
- Responsible for student life cycle including processes for Pick-a-Major, Program Planning, Warning Letters, Faculty Actions and Convocation oversight
- Administers Edwards Continuing Scholarship and Awards process and chairs the Edwards Awards Committee, responsible for distributing over $1.6 Million annually to continuing students. Liaises with Central Awards team on all entrance and continuing awards and all payouts
- Oversees student performance reviews, manages the warning system, and provides support regarding faculty actions and student appeals based on school policies, university regulations and professional judgement
- Leads administration, promotion and analysis of student surveys including the First Year Student Survey and Graduating Student Survey.
- Supports student override class requests using the JIRA ticketing system
- Supports Director, Associate Dean, and Department Heads to ensure all needs are met while creating Edwards academic timetable and course build annually
- Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment, and models these behaviours across the institution

- Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position
Education: An undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. A master’s degree is considered an asset. A business degree and/or knowledge of the B.Comm. degree program is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of five years of academic advising experience in a university setting is required. Project management experience is considered an asset. A minimum of two years of experience in managing and motivating direct reports is considered an asset. Familiarity with University of Saskatchewan policies, procedures and academic regulations is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, as well as non-traditional career paths, community experience, and recognition of prior learning may be considered.

- Proficient in Microsoft Sharepoint, Teams and Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are preferred
Experience using the SIRIUS student information system and JIRA ticketing system is an asset.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $69,035.00 - 107,868.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
