Job Description
The Manager, Pension & Benefits is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance and administration of CPP Investments' global pension and benefits programs. This role ensures that programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with the organization's objectives across multiple jurisdictions, including North and South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide strategic direction for global pension and benefits programs, ensuring alignment with local regulations and market practices.
- Lead annual plan renewals, incorporating design changes and cost-benefit analyses to maintain competitive offerings.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, including consultants, brokers, and third-party administrators, to develop and implement best practices.
- Coordinate and support annual open enrollment processes for global benefit and pension programs.
- Develop and disseminate clear communications to stakeholders and employees, maintaining up-to-date internal documentation.
- Regularly analyze utilization reports to identify trends and recommend plan design improvements.
- Oversee employer-sponsored defined contribution plans and government-mandated retirement savings programs globally.
- Ensure fiduciary oversight and plan governance, including the management of regulatory filings, audits, and compliance with local and international laws.
- Work with external consultants to support the Pension Committee's reporting requirements and discussions on plan trends and legislative updates.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and vendors to deliver high-quality pension and benefits services.
- Lead the development of global policies related to time off, absence management, and family leave, informed by market insights.
- Manage escalations related to pension and benefits programs, advising HR departments as a subject-matter expert.
- Coach and mentor members of the Pension & Benefits and Payroll teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, service excellence, and high performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in pension and benefits management, within a global context is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of domestic benefit and pension regulations and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of international benefit and pension regulatory and compliance landscape is preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in leading plan renewals and vendor negotiations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms, preferably Workday.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, GBA, CHRP/CHRL) are considered assets.
