Role Overview
As a Manager of Equity Consulting with PMG, you will be a pivotal leader within our rapidly expanding equity practice. This role is central to the success of our equity engagements, requiring a unique blend of strategic assessment, financial acumen, and project oversight. You will be responsible for evaluating potential equity projects, from initial client fit and detailed scoping requirements to negotiations of equity valuation and terms before engagements begin. Beyond the project initiation, you will drive accountability for project delivery, ensuring that all equity projects run on budget and consistently deliver measurable ROI. As PMG's Manager of Equity Consulting, you will proudly lead PMG's pro-bono engagements, embodying our commitment to community impact. This role demands a high degree of strategic thinking, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record in managing complex M&A and financial consulting projects, particularly within narrow margin service businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equity Engagement Leadership: Oversee the entire lifecycle of equity consulting engagements, from initial assessment and client fit to successful project closure.
- Strategic Scoping & Negotiation: Lead the process of determining comprehensive scoping requirements for equity projects and expertly negotiate equity valuations and terms, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements for all parties.
- Financial Performance & ROI: Drive accountability for project financial performance, meticulously tracking budgets and ensuring that all equity engagements deliver significant return on investment for both PMG and our clients.
- Mergers & Acquisitions Expertise: Apply deep M&A knowledge to guide equity projects, identify synergies, and navigate complex deal structures, particularly within the context of narrow margin service businesses.
- Pro-Bono Program Management: Manage PMG’s pro-bono engagements, including application selection and resourcing to ensure their successful execution and alignment with our corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders, providing strategic guidance and transparent communication throughout engagements.
- Risk Management & Problem Solving: Proactively identify and mitigate potential project risks, developing decisive solutions to keep engagements on track and achieve desired outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field required; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree with a focus on finance or M&A is preferred. If you have real work experience but no formal education, please apply (this is not a disqualifying factor).
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive professional experience in M&A, equity consulting, corporate finance, or strategic advisory roles, with a proven track record of managing complex transactions. Specific experience working with narrow margin service businesses is essential.
- M&A and Valuation Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in mergers and acquisitions, including deal structuring, due diligence, and financial modelling for equity valuation and terms negotiation.
- Financial Acumen & ROI Focus: Strong understanding of financial metrics, budget management, and a proven ability to drive projects that deliver clear return on investment.
- Leadership & Project Management: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple high-stakes engagements, mentor teams, and ensure project success from initiation to completion.
- Negotiation & Communication Excellence: Superior negotiation abilities and strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and presenting complex financial information clearly and persuasively.
- Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving: Highly strategic mindset with a proactive approach to identifying challenges, developing innovative solutions, and adapting to dynamic market conditions.
