Primary function
The ideal candidate for this role will be a results-oriented, client-focused individual. The Manager, Business Services will play a pivotal role in supporting the Vice President in the delivery of the divisional mandate and LAO Strategic Plan, strategic and operational planning as well as the general day-to-day management of the Operations division.

Key accountabilities
- In partnership with the Operations management team, lead the development and management of business and strategic plans for the division
- Support the VP, Operations with key divisional change management strategies and activities
- Significant collaborator and team player; able to share ideas, facilitate and garner consensus across different perspectives
- Build and maintain linkages and alignment between the divisions plans and those across other parts of LAO
- Support the Vice President in developing and coordinating activities to assist in productive relationships with stakeholders
- Lead special projects, including the management of project plans, timelines, deliverables, budget and change management components
- Develop and review departmental briefing notes on behalf of the Vice President
- Coordinate reporting and the risk management process for the division
- Working closely with the Business Advisor, coordinate financial oversight activities for the division in collaboration with Finance Department, including review of budgets
- Provide support to the Operations management team on divisional procurement activities
- Gather data from existing internal/external data sources, synthesize and analyze to aid in understanding of material and make recommendations to address challenges as required
- Collect and analyze data in order to conduct a risk assessment and provide strategies to manage risk
- Co-ordinate and work in collaboration with human resources in support of labour relations matters within the division
- Co-ordinate and work in collaboration with the business managers across LAO
- Support effective operations management processes and procedures
- Oversee the development of work plans and timelines, and develop reporting and tracking systems
- Promote and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, accessibility, equity and inclusion
- Provide advice, guidance and direction to departmental staff
Required skills & experience
- Post secondary degree in Business Management, Business Administration or a similar discipline, and/or a minimum of 10 years combined experience and education
- Minimum 6 years business and project management experience
- Broad knowledge of LAO’s policies, business practices and procedures
- Experience with reporting and evaluation methodologies and project management
- Minimum 2 years of financial management experience or equivalent skills and knowledge
- Proven analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Experience with the management and reduction of risk
- Strong sense of client focused service
- Proven ability to work under pressure to meet timelines while being responsive to stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to prioritize competing issues effectively
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to facilitate decision-making and influence change
- A demonstrated high level of computer skills including MS Office suite
- Professional, positive, and supportive team player
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities,
- Strong consultation, facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information
