SHIFT TIMES: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, 5am – 5pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn the skills of the trade. As a maintenance helper, your responsibilities are to assist with various duties, including installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines.
- Completing Work Orders from various departments
- Conduct belt repairs to all types of conveyor equipment, such as modular belting, wire belting, plastic belting and fabric belting
- Perform minor repairs and troubleshoot issues with plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Follow preventative maintenance programs to minimize disruptions in warehouse operations
- Assist Electricians, Millwrights, and other tradespeople in installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and machinery
- Provide tradespeople with tools and parts they need for their work
- Help to keep equipment clean
- General routine maintenance, including sweeping floors, emptying garbage bins and cleaning spills
- Ensure that work area is always clean of debris and hazards and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work
- Reports mechanical or electrical issues to the tradespeople and the shift supervisor
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards.
- Using scissor lift to perform preventative maintenance (training provided)
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Highschool Diploma
- Vocational school training would be considered an asset
- Good oral and written communication skills and good team building skills.
- Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail - job requires being careful about detail and completing work tasks thoroughly.
- Experience working in an industrial mechanical setting, preferably in the food industry.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is an asset.
- Must be okay with working in a cold environment
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.
- Problem-solving skills and good communication skills
- Knowledge of appropriate health & safety and environmental regulations
- Forklift and Scissor Lift Certification would be considered an asset
- Qualified to perform lockout/tagout procedures
- Adherence to Food Safety Protocols
Please note that the expected new hire salary range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sunrise Farms. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
