Position Summary
The Machine Operator- Break Press/Slitter is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining brake press and slitter machines to fabricate precision trims, Angles, Flashing and all other metal components used in a pre-engineered metal building. The role requires attention to detail, mechanical skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings and material lists
- Set up, operate, and adjust brake press, folders and slitter machines according to work order and production drawings
- Cut metal coils or sheets to specific widths and lengths using slitter equipment
- Form and bending sheet metal parts to precis dimensions using both break press and folders
- Inspect parts for accuracy, quality and compliance within our specifications
- Perform basic machine maintenance including trouble shooting
- Communicating with supervisors and team members regarding machine operation and production status
- Assist as necessary to maintain proper flow of work through assigned area
- Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Maintain work areas and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe fashion
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical training or certification in machine operation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operations is an asset
- Experience in roll formers, press brake, slitting lines and hydraulic trim folders is an asset
- Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication
- Strong commitment to the performance of quality work
- Ability to read and understand production drawings and measuring
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50lbs or stand for extended periods
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn and grow
