Job Level: Line Cook
As a Line Cook you will gain experience in a fast-paced, professional environment. We have an excellent kitchen, two kitchens in one: we offer casual fine dining in Herons Dining Room and classic pub fare in the HBI Pub.
Key Responsibilities:
· Reporting to Kitchen Manager or Chef
· Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff while ensuring a speedy output
· Ensure meals are plated consistently as per Chef’s direction and standards, with high quality and in a timely fashion
· Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
· Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
· Clean up station and take care of leftover food
· Stock inventory appropriately
· Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
· Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
· must be able to lift 50lbs
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
· 1+ year experience in a full-service restaurant preferred but training for the right candidate
· Focus detailing on consistent presentation of food
· A team player with good communication skills
· Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
· Ability to follow recipe and menu directions for quality production
· Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
· Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
· Must be fluent in English, second language an asset
· Current Food Safe Certificate
· First Aid certificates are an asset
· Must possess valid work authorization to work in Canada. Heriot Bay Inn is unable to assist with obtaining work authorizations
