Purpose of Position
The Lift Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting special needs students (e.g. medical complications, mobility challenges) and must be able to effectively secure students with mobility/physical aid devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, oxygen tanks, catheter bags).
Required Qualifications
- Class 2 Driver's License.
- School Bus Operator's Certificate, with Defensive Driving training.
- WHMIS training/certification.
- Knowledge of specialized equipment for the Lift Bus.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work methods and processes.
- Ability to interact with service dogs while transporting students, if required.
- Demonstrated time management and computer/word processing skills.
- Effective basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Effective moderate interpersonal and communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
- Unified Referral & Intake System (URIS) training.
- Mechanical knowledge.
