Soloway Wright LLP is currently looking for a Legal Assistant (Litigation) with three to seven years of experience to work out of our Ottawa office, providing support to three lawyers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting correspondence and legal documentation including editing and quality assurance.
- Coordinate external and internal communication including mail, e-mail, fax and telephone calls.
- Address client inquiries and schedule appointments.
- Maintain client files.
- Prepare client files for closure and storage.
- Preparation of accounts.
- Preparation of mail and courier packages.
- Coordinate and organize meetings, conference calls and maintain agendas.
- Coordination of examinations for discovery and mediations (including bookings with Court Reporters/Mediators).
- Coordinate travel arrangements.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience in executive administration or as a law clerk.
- Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of ACL5, Primafact, and NetDocuments, an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation.
- Experience preparing and editing correspondence.
- Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize job tasks in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to respond effectively and professionally to changes in schedules and priorities.
- Ability to ensure consistent attention to details.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
- A positive, supportive and professional attitude.
