Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Legal Assistant (Family Law) role located in Surrey, BC at Ahuja Litigation Mediation Arbitration.
The Legal Assistant will be responsible for:
- Drafting/revising/proofreading pleadings and documents;
- Preparing and coordinating for hearings and trials;
- Preparing List of Documents for all files;
- Conducting online legal searches and working directly with lawyers on all file matters;
- You will be responsible for conduct of client files from start to finish with little supervision and must be able to work well independently and as part of a team; and
- Attention to detail, great organization and the ability to work under pressure are all attributes of our ideal candidate.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of family law experience would be an asset;
- Certificate or diploma from the Legal Administrative Assistant program is an asset;
- Attention to detail;
- Task flexibility and ability to work on multiple tasks at one time;
- Preparing correspondence including letters and emails;
- Familiarity with the Supreme Court Family Rules;
- Familiarity with the Provincial Court Family Rules would be an asset;
- Preparing, filing, and serving Court documents;
- Maintain a BF (Bring Forward) system;
- Organized and able to work under strict deadlines, with an ability to prioritize tasks;
- Maintain a calendar and appointments for 2 lawyers;
- Basic familiarity or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Familiarity with DivorceMate is an asset; and
- Fluency in Punjabi and/or Hindi is an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
