About the Position
The incumbent is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, overseeing and participation in the operation of grounds maintenance, including identifying the maintenance needs of vehicles and grounds equipment, overseeing the Mechanic and all seasonal staff within this unit. The individual will report to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
Position Details
Job duties to include:
- The Lead Grounds Keeper will evaluate the state of our grounds throughout the calendar year. Identifying areas of needed attention, potential hazards, life safety issues, damage, etc.
- Snow removal; operation and coordination of snow removal participants & equipment. Ensuring a high standard of snow removal during the winter months. Clearing all entries, sidewalks, roadways (plowed & sanded), and parking lots (plowed & sanded).
- Maintaining grounds equipment; tracking, maintaining & troubleshooting issues related to all grounds equipment.
- Irrigation system responsibilities; maintenance checks to the irrigation system, ability to troubleshoot and fix issues.
- Coordinating the seasonal (summer) grounds workers.
- General maintenance activities in support of building maintenance needs.
- Recommending the procurement of any equipment or consumables required to complete these tasks.
- Ensuring work orders are completed.
- Seasonal On-Call requirement.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of groundskeeping or related experience
- Unrestricted class 5 drivers’ license
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Certificate in Landscape Horticulture or Plumbing
- Pesticide Applicator Certificate or License
Salary
AUPE Class Level 11 Step 1 $63,234.32 per annum.
