If you would like to work as part of a progressive organization and enjoy a fast-paced environment, then this may be the opportunity for you.
Come work with us!
At the City of Leduc, we believe in more than beautiful spaces—we believe in creating vibrant, functional landscapes that connect people and places. Our Parks & Open Spaces team plays a key role in the design, development, and preservation of our natural and built environments. If you enjoy balancing office-based planning with hands-on site work, and take pride in thoughtful landscaping, this is the opportunity for you.
What is the Opportunity?
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Landscape Technician to support the development and maintenance of parks, playgrounds, multiways, and open spaces across our city. Reporting to the Manager, Parks & Open Spaces, this role blends technical expertise with collaboration, offering support to various internal departments and external partners, including developers and contractors.
From reviewing landscape plans to coordinating enhancements, you'll help ensure that all City developments align with landscape design standards, safety practices, and community goals. You’ll also play a key role in programs like Communities in Bloom and contribute to beautification and sustainability efforts citywide.
What will you do?
As a Landscape Technician with the City of Leduc, you’ll help shape functional, inclusive, and visually appealing outdoor spaces through a mix of design review, planning support, and field inspections. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing and approving landscape drawings, ensuring compliance with City standards and Land Use Bylaws
  • Conducting on-site inspections and issuing Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificates
  • Coordinating with developers, builders, and contractors to support new and ongoing projects
  • Providing technical guidance to internal departments on park development, playgrounds, and open space upgrades
  • Supporting Communities in Bloom initiatives, including budgeting, purchasing, grant writing, and committee participation
  • Assisting with procurement of park amenities, including evaluating quotes and overseeing delivery/installation
  • Advising external stakeholders (landscape architects, business owners, community groups) on design best practices
  • Representing the City in construction startup and progress meetings, monitoring quality and materials
  • Collaborating on long-term planning, enhancements, and redevelopment of public green spaces
Who you are?
You’re detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about functional landscape design. You’re comfortable balancing field work with technical oversight and can work independently while contributing to a team. You have:
  • Post-secondary education in landscape management, horticulture, or arboriculture (required)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in landscape planning, design, or municipal operations (required)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (required)
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with landscape design software and information systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • A customer-focused attitude with the ability to work with internal teams, external partners, and the public
  • Functional leadership skills and a proactive approach to safety, quality, and design integrity
  • Experience supporting community beautification or sustainability programs
What we Offer?
At the City of Leduc, we believe in taking care of our people. Here’s what you can expect:
  • Competitive Salary: $77,854.40 - $97,323.20 per annum
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and wellness benefits, including a healthcare spending account
  • Pension Plan: Participation in LAPP (Local Authorities Pension Plan)
  • Recreation Pass: Free annual City of Leduc recreation pass with access to drop-in programs
  • Time Off: Starting at 3 weeks of vacation per year
  • Free Parking: On-site free parking for employees
  • Professional Development: Training and growth opportunities to support your long-term goals
Important Notes!
  • The successful candidate must be willing to provide a current Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record Check at their own expense.
Ready to Join Us?
This is more than a job—it’s your chance to influence how Leduc looks, feels, and functions for years to come. If you care about community, design, and making a visible impact, we’d love to hear from you!
