Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is actively recruiting for a Land Analyst to join the team. This position reports to the Land Supervisor in the Land Department, part of the External Affairs Unit. The Pembina Land department is responsible for all surface land acquisitions, divestitures, third party agreements, administration, and landowner/stakeholder relations. This includes managing and reporting on land activities (surface, reclamation, and contracts) for Pembina owned and leased properties, and providing advice on surface rights and land acquisition requirements. The team develops and executes strategic land acquisition, public consultation, and notification processes.

The selected Land Analyst will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of land administration documentation for various pipeline and facility projects and operational activities primarily in Alberta and BC. The position will be based out of Pembina’s Calgary office (Eighth Ave Place) with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Contract duration will be dependent on candidate preference and experience/qualifications.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Maintain and update land records, including easements, rights-of-way, leases, and agreements for existing pipelines and facilities;
  • Ensure all land-related documentation is accurate, organized, and accessible in the land assest management system;
  • Review and audit acquisition and construction packages ensuring regulatory compliance;
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve land-related disputes or claims;
  • Communicate with key stakeholders throughout the duration of a project such as clients, land brokers, landowners, regulatory officials, government agencies and Project Managers;
  • Monitor and track obligations such as payments, renewals, and reporting deadlines;
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments in accordance with agreements;
  • Support environmental teams in ensuring compliance with land-related environmental regulations and commitments;
  • Assist in obtaining permits or approvals for maintenance or modifications to existing pipelines and facilities;
  • Assist with securing temporary access agreements or permits for maintenance, repair on existing pipelines and facilities;
  • Assist the Land Administration team with day-to-day land records management and Land related duties; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Petroleum Land Administration Certificate and/or technical diploma in an appropriate related discipline;
  • 5+ years of surface land administration experience, both Crown and Freehold, in the Canadian western provinces;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of AER, BCER, and CER regulations;
  • Working knowledge of LSAS, Alberta Crown Surface Application process through EAP and One Stop;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SPIN2, ETS, ICS, LTSA, ABADATA and ACCUMAP;
  • Must be familiar with, and be able to interpret legal plans, legal documentation, titles, and engineering drawings;
  • Willingness to take on a temporary position;
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail;
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication, team and organizational skills; and
  • Capable of working in a strong team environment, sharing accountability and quality of service.


The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
