Labourer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The labourer works as part of a team to process straw and other fibrous raw materials into refined particles and powders for use in environmental and industrial markets.
Duties: Feed raw materials into production line, operate mobile equipment (forklift, skid steer), operate and maintain machinery (bale processing, rotary cutting, milling, screening, mechanical and air conveyance, air filtration, product baling and palletizing). Lifting up to 22.7kg bags will be required. Occasional overtime work will be required.
Environment: Light manufacturing (i.e. exposure to dust and noise; PPE will be provided other than safety work boots, for which an annual allowance will be provided). Work is mostly indoors in a manufacturing facility; occasional outdoor work will be required.
Plant Hours: Plant runs two 8.5h shifts, 7 days/week. 6:00am - 3:00pm and 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm with two paid 15min breaks and one unpaid 30min break.
Shift Required: Midweek Day Off shifts, with Tuesday and Wednesday off, or Wednesday and Thursday off.
Either shift is available including crossover possibilities. Occasional overtime will be required.
Attributes we are seeking:
- Experience in a mechanical processing environment (sawmill, pulp mill, fibreboard plant, pellet mill, flour mill, sugar mill, etc) is a definite asset.
- Competence with mobile equipment operation (skid steer, forklift, telehandler, scissor lift) is desirable.
- Competence with routine maintenance (equipment inspection and adjustment, lubrication) is desirable.
- Experience with quality control (in-process and finished product sampling and analysis, basic QAQC lab equipment operation--sieves, scales, drying ovens, etc.) is desirable.
Above all, a positive attitude, commitment to the team, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic are essential…the rest can be taught.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
