Laboratory Assistant I

Your Opportunity:

We’re seeking a meticulous and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Microbiology team. In this role, you’ll support microbiologists in preparing and analyzing specimens, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring a sterile and efficient lab environment. Collect, label, and prepare samples for microbiological testing. Perform Gram stains, and other slide preparations. Operate and maintain lab equipment including biological safety cabinets and centrifuges and Incubate cultures. Enter and manage patient data and test orders in the lab system. Maintain inventory and prepare reagents and collection kits. Dispose of biohazard materials and uphold safety protocols. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
