Resource Coordinator, Full-time (35 hours/week)
The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care that is committed to ensuring every Indigenous child in BC has access to spiritually enriching, culturally based, high quality early learning and child care services.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Jordan’s Principle Enhanced Service Coordination Hub (“the Hub”) Manager, the Jordan’s Principle Hub Resource Coordinator (“Resource Coordinator”) acts as a resource, mentor, trainer and support to all Jordan’s Principle Service Coordinators (“Service Coordinators”) in the province and supports the culturally safe delivery of Jordan’s Principle. The role will consult and collaborate with partners (including community leaders, Elders, parents, advocates, caregivers, etc.) following a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach. The Resource Coordinator raises awareness about the importance of Jordan’s Principle programs and services and contributes to the overall functioning of the Hub. They will provide support to Service Coordinators throughout BC and provide quality, accessible training and resources on behalf of the Hub.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Resource Coordinator position is responsible for the following key functions.
- Training/Facilitation: Delivers culturally specific/safe trainings in partnership with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)
- Provides on-line and in-person training and onboarding of Service Coordinators
- Delivers training to Service Coordinators for Standard Operating Procedures
- Develops standard curriculum for training of Service Coordinators in partnership with ISC, First Nations, and network partners
- Provides teaching and guidance on the use of the Jordan’s Principle Handbook to assist Service Coordinators as they navigate the Jordan’s Principle Initiative
- Supports development and implementation of Standards of Practice for Service Coordinators
- Provides training and mentorship to ensure Service Coordinators help children and families to access existing products, services, and supports, and to submit Jordan's Principle requests where appropriate
- Community Engagement/Partnerships: Acts as a resource and support to Indigenous communities, service providers, caregivers, and other stakeholders
- Hosts a Provincial Jordan’s Principle conference yearly for service coordinators, funders, and community members
- Provides guidance to communities as they navigate the Jordan’s Principle Initiative
- Manages Community of Practice and regional meetings that are responsive to the needs of frontline Service Coordinators, including the sharing of best practices and resources
- Supports partnerships and linkages with child-serving organizations to coordinate supports and services
- Participates in regional/ provincial networks and/or committees as delegated
- IT Infrastructure and Website Support
- Facilitates IT infrastructure (Teams, Zoom, and a shared network) as required for Service Coordinators to work together provincially
- Assists in updating a provincial website to share information and tools with Service Coordinators and families
Administration
- Collects and maintains accurate and comprehensive data, as directed
- Prepares status reports and briefing notes, as well as statistical and activity reports, as required
- Track interactions with Service Coordinators and provide updates on outcomes
- Engages in tracking and reporting on progress toward individual and team goals
- Maintains an accurate and detailed weekly calendar
- Engages in training and professional development, as approved and/or requested by the Hub Manager
- Participates in staff meetings and retreats, working committees, and other meetings, as delegated
- Participates in contributing to articles and stories to BCACCS e-news, newsletter, reports, etc.
- Monitors emerging policy, research, and practice issues and ensures community/caregiver awareness and understanding of these
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in social, human services or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience training/facilitation or guiding learning and educating adults in a professional setting
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program development, project management and/or Indigenous community engagement
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in disability and/or social services sector
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in training and facilitation in a provincial and virtual context and knowledge transfer materials
- Extensive knowledge of community-based supports and services throughout the province, including supports in all sectors where a child/youth might have demonstrated need (education, health, social, cultural)
- Experience working with children, youth, and families with additional needs in a child-centered framework
- Working knowledge of BC First Nations culture, history, and issues that extends beyond a pan-indigenous perspective and a deep understanding of the historical relationships between BC First Nations people and government
- Deep understanding of the importance of protocols when working within Indigenous communities
- Experience in community-based research, data collection, and analysis
- Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities on research initiatives and translating that research to share with communities and the provincial/territorial and federal government
- Strong proficiency in using computers with advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and various video conferencing platforms such as MS Teams or Zoom to create complex documents, manage large datasets, design impactful presentations, and efficiently handle email communications. Must also be able to save, search, and retrieve information, files, folders using MS SharePoint.
- Must have valid driver license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory driving record
- Criminal records check (vulnerable sector)
Preferred:
- Understanding of the policy concepts underlying Jordan’s Principle, human rights legislation, and orders of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT)
- Case management experience

Conditions
Work is performed primarily from the successful candidate’s home office, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasionally travel to attend meetings, training, and events may be required.
