Overview
The Information and Technology Specialist supports the Director, Financial Services by managing the overall operations of the Municipality’s information systems. Key responsibilities consist of coordinating day-to-day IT support, network management, and budgets/purchasing. The IT Specialist will ensure cybersecurity, data protection, backup systems and disaster recovery measures are in place; will provide technical support for EMO and fire department IT requirements; and provide IT and technology related technical support services for the water and sewer utilities.
The candidate will hold post-secondary qualifications in computer science or related field, an Information Technology Certificate, and a minimum of five years’ of IT related experience. Or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Project Management and Municipal experience would be considered an asset.

What we're looking for:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 in a corporate environment, including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Forms, and Azure (Entra ID) is required.
- Advanced knowledge of network design and administration using Cisco enterprise equipment and experience with Cisco administration.
- Advanced knowledge of networking design involving multiple WANS and vLANs spanning multiple facilities and communities is required.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with and supporting of alternative internet access methods for both emergency and operational requirements (i.e. Starlink, Mobily Internet, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge and experience with management of VMWare server infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge and experience of Windows Servers and Windows Domain environments.
- Strong working knowledge of video surveillance systems including NVR management, user access management for this system.
- Knowledge of Municipal Government, and Office of the Privacy Commissioner, cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with TownSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Laserfiche, ArcGIS Online, VTSCADA Cartography, would be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of data management and IT security principles and best practices;
- This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to think and act strategically in a political and community service environment, and to foster and contribute to a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment;
- Strong project management and research skills with the ability to operate within tight timelines and budgets.
- Ability to manage on-premise and cloud backup systems.
