Description
SUMMARY
The IT Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and backup systems. In addition to day to day operations, this role is accountable for planning, implementing, and deploying IT solutions that meet organizational needs. The IT Specialist will collaborate with stakeholders, document solutions, train users, and drive continuous improvement across IT systems.
- Shift: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (Additional hours required, as needed, to support other regions including the West Coast and the Maritimes)
- Location: Concord, ON
- Salary: $57,000 - $75,000
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Level 1 helpdesk support, issue troubleshooting, ticket management, technical guidance, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for end-users.
- Support legacy desktops, laptops, servers, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain software applications.
- Maintain and manage operating systems, servers, and virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Administer Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, file servers, and security policies (GPO).
- Monitor and maintain network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, LANs, and remote access solutions.
- Oversee storage and backup systems, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Evaluate new hardware and software for organizational needs.
- Collaborate with Global IT staff for network-related issues and IT projects.
- Plan, design, and implement IT solutions aligned with organizational requirements.
- Lead projects in system infrastructure, servers, storage, and backup implementations.
- Develop and execute pilot programs, followed by organization-wide deployment.
- Maintain documentation for all solutions, processes, and IT projects.
- Ensure compliance with budgets, schedules, and organizational policies.
- Implement and maintain IT security measures to protect data and systems.
- Support IT compliance efforts, including license management and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and business continuity activities.
- Train users on IT systems, processes, and best practices.
- Provide cross-functional technical training and guidance to staff.
- Design IT architecture suitable for organizational requirements.
- Receive and evaluate price offers for IT projects.
- Perform installations, upgrades, and configuration of IT systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration or related IT roles.
- Experience working in cloud environments, e.g. AWS, Azure, other cloud platforms
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft ecosystem and virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Hands on experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange, Windows 11/10, Windows Server, iOS/Android devices
- Experience with cybersecurity or information security systems
- Experience managing networks, servers, storage, and backup systems.
- Familiarity with HTML, SQL, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, and multiple OS platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work occasional off-hours for mission-critical functions.
- High level of English proficiency (mandatory).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Travel required within region regularly and within Canada on an as needed basis.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Able to conduct presentations and meetings.
- Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
- Occasional coordination with the US IT team, which may require off hours availability.
