Duties
- Plans, adapts, develops and delivers interpretive presentations, programs and activities to provide visitors of the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada
- Helps coordinate community events and outreach activities throughout the region
- Plays a lead role in visitor services (such as merchandise sales & inventories, trip planning, etc.) and supervising a team of students and Heritage Presenters

This process is intended to fill one (1) PM-02 seasonal vacancy at the LSNMCA Terrace Bay, Ontario location.
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary school with a degree, diploma or PSC approved alternatives OR an acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to the position.
An acceptable combination of education, training and experience is defined as the following:
Two years of secondary school or PSC approved alternatives; AND
- Successful completion of a minimum of one (1) course relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., courses taken through continuing education facilities, colleges, universities, professional or governmental organizations or employers including but not limited to courses in heritage interpretation, communications, public speaking, performing arts); AND
- A minimum of twelve (12) months experience working in the fields of education, interpretation, and/or outreach-communications.
Degree equivalency
- Experience delivering interpretive programs, presentations and/or communication to various audiences
- Experience in planning, developing, delivering and evaluating interpretive and/or educational cultural and/or natural heritage programs for a wide range of audiences using a variety of presentation techniques
- A minimum of twelve (12) months experience working in the fields of education, interpretation, and/or outreach-communications
- Experience in supervision

The following are asset qualifications (non-essential). If you possess relevant certifications please list them in your application:
- Experience leading sea kayak or canoeing adventures with the public
- Knowledge and experience paddling on Lake Superior
- Sea kayaking or canoeing proficiency certification levels
- Safety certification related to on-water programming
- Experience in developing non-personal media, promotions and social media
- Experience managing inventory, handling cash and/or use of point-of-sale machine
- Experience in marine environments (i.e. boating, kayaking, sailing, etc…)
- Experience hauling and backing up trailers
Conditions of employment
- Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance
- Possession of a valid class G Driver’s License
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Complete training provided by Parks Canada
- Willing to relocate (no virtual work). Housing is not provided
- Stand/walk/hike/paddle for prolonged periods
- Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, and by various means of transportation
- Perform physical tasks as per job requirements such as sea kayaking on Lake Superior; lift and carry a minimum of 10kg (22lbs) over short distances
- Work irregular hours, shift work, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
- Wear a Parks Canada uniform
- Set-up, take-down and move equipment (including large and heavy equipment, tables and tents)
- Light cleaning duties
