About Strescon Limited
Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollowcore slabs, precast pile, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Job Summary
The Intermediate Precast Design Engineer will be responsible for designing precast/prestressed concrete elements for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, precast concrete design, and construction practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing precast components and a passion for innovative solutions.
As a member of the Engineering team, the ideal candidate must be comfortable interacting with a diverse workforce including Drafters, Engineers, Project Managers, Salespeople, Estimators, Production Supervisors, and Field Erectors. This position requires high attention to detail, reading specifications, architectural, structural, and steel fabricator drawings to ensure the precast design meets contract requirements. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established procedures must be followed closely.
Responsibilities
- Design precast/prestressed concrete elements
- Prepare detailed designs and calculations for precast/prestressed elements
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design requirements are met
- Conduct structural analysis and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
- Provide technical support throughout full project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on design solutions
- Understanding of precast concrete design principles and construction practices
- Stay updated with standard codes, practices and training
Technical Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in concrete design
Business Requirements
- Proficiency in E-Tabs software and other structural analysis tools would be an asset
- Required to obtain professional license for Maine, Massachusetts and other states as supported by the company
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Cultural Requirements
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience working in a team setting focused on critical thinking and effective time management
