These include both world-class IPs and our own creations, across multiple platforms and genres.In 2022, we rolled out a four-day work week and now support in-studio, remote (within Canada), and hybrid work arrangements as permanent options for all employees.We’re looking for an intermediate platforms engineer to help ship our Unreal Engine 5 games across modern console platforms. You’ll optimize performance and memory usage, wrangle platform SDKs and TRCs, and collaborate with teams to ensure stability, compliance, and smooth builds across platforms—especially consoles.This role is remote-friendly in Canada (Pacific-time overlap required).
What You’ll Tackle
- Platform Support – Integrate and maintain UE5 features across console platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
- Build and Release Engineering – Own automated packaging, deployment, and validation of builds for multiple platforms.
- Performance and Optimization – Profile and tune CPU, GPU, memory, and loading performance to meet platform-specific targets.
- Certification & Compliance – Work closely with production to ensure TRC/XR compliance and support submissions to first-party partners.
- Technical Collaboration – Act as a key liaison between engine/platform tech and gameplay teams to resolve cross-platform issues and blockers.
- Tooling and Workflow – Improve the efficiency of platform development by building or enhancing internal tools and CI systems.
You’ll Thrive Here If You
- Have 3+ years of experience developing in C++ in Unreal Engine 4/5, ideally in a platform-focused or systems programming role.
- Hold a BSc in Computer Science or a college diploma in software engineering, game programming, or a closely related field.
- Have shipped at least one console title using Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
- Are familiar with console platform SDKs (Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo) and TRC/XR submission processes.
- Can diagnose and fix platform-specific crashes, performance bottlenecks, or build issues.
- Communicate clearly across disciplines and take ownership of systems from concept to ship.
- Are comfortable with Perforce, Git, and build systems like Jenkins, TeamCity, ADO, or similar.
Bonus XP
- Experience with Nintendo Switch development, including memory/performance optimization on mobile-class hardware.
- Familiarity with Unreal’s build tools, platform abstraction layers, or rendering pipeline.
- Experience working on multi-platform or cross-gen projects.
- Passion for process automation, CI/CD, and shaving minutes off of iteration time.
- Track record of improving team workflows, stability, or platform integration quality.
