Job Summary:
Reporting to the Clinical Lead, the Intensive Complex Needs Clinician provides mental health therapeutic services, including assessment and treatment, to complex needs youth and their families within a Live-In-Treatment (LIT) environment with the goal of increasing the youth and family’s abilities to function within the community and improve their daily living.
The Intensive Complex Needs Clinician position is included in the OPSEU bargaining unit. Internal applicants will be considered first.
Hourly step range: Step 1 - $46.45; Step 2 - $48.78: Step 3 - $51.22
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide timely service that is responsive to the need/goal identified in the client’s plan of care.
- Conduct clinical assessments and provide individual, family, and group therapy, teaching/developing client coping skills.
- Develop clinical formulation, treatment goals and plans.
- Ensure consistent communication and collaboration among multi-disciplinary team members across the LIT as required by client need.
- Conduct discharge and aftercare planning.
- Participation in regular LIT team meetings as well as broader LIT team meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
- Provide appropriate case management, when required.
- 2-4 days per week at LIT, including some evenings, depending on program needs.
Service Delivery - Participate in the development and planning of the clinical service delivery model within the LIT program
- Work collaboratively with the milieu team to determine necessary milieu clinical programming and support the development of that programming.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to operationalize individual clinical treatment plans.
- Role-model clinical interventions in the LIT milieu.
- Provide support, coaching, and feedback to members of the interdisciplinary team with respect to treatment interventions.
- Participate in LIT DBT consultation team.
- Assist with post-crisis debriefing of staff.
- Collaborate with the LIT Supervisor to create/review/modify milieu documentation.
- Complete clinical documentation of client records.
- Contribute to service planning and monitoring program outcomes as appropriate within the clinical file.
- Complete accurate and timely case notes and clinical documentation as required in compliance with MCCSS licensing standards, OCSWSSW regulations and agency policy.
- Providing feedback to supervisor and LIT team (as appropriate) regarding service structure, with a focus on continuous improvement within the service system.
- Represent the Agency’s mission, vison, values and strategic direction at community partner meetings, case conferences, etc.
- Liaise with community agencies in coordinating service for children, youth and their families.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology (or equivalent).**
- Membership in good standing with a regulated College (under the Psychotherapy Act or Registered Social Worker or Psychotherapist).
- Minimum 5 years of considerable position related experience required.
- Organizational Development or Adult Education/Learning certificate/program an asset.
- Change Management certification an asset.
- Excellent clinical assessment, formulation and treatment planning skills are essential.
- At minimum, some training and experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and willingness to adopt and integrate full model DBT into the LIT milieu and daily clinical practice will be required.
- Significant experience delivering full model DBT is strongly preferred.
- Experience with providing a broad range of clinical services and demonstrated effective work with a child and adolescent population who present a variety of clinically challenging issues.
- Demonstrated expertise in family therapy, as well as advanced group skills with youth and parents are preferred.
- Leadership experience, including providing clinical leadership on an interdisciplinary team is a strong asset.
- Computer competency is required for this position.
- Experience working with diverse cultures is considered an asset for this position.
