Job Summary:
The Intake worker will liaison directly with client as a critical initial contact person and will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationship with clients and house policies at Wellspring Program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Build positive team community:
- Debrief with Wellspring staff
- Maintain and relay accurate information to staff members and clients
- Problem-solve together
Administer medications :
- Maintain and lock med cabinet
- Communicate and document medications with Pharmacy, as required.
- Distribute medications to clients and order PRN as required.
- Update client's ETO on changes of medications as they arise.
Ensure safety of residents and staff :
- Regular checks of rooms and facility
- Random drug and alcohol testing
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain radio communication to keep other staff and facilities informed.
- Use nonviolent crisis intervention strategies and first aid, when necessary.
Admission:
- Emailing/faxing application package to an applicant when receiving a request.
- Reviewing an applicant’s application package.
- Having an interview with an applicant and assessing if she meets our criteria.
- Connecting a client to doctor, psychiatrist when extra screening is required.
- Communicating/Working with doctor, psychiatrist regarding an applicant.
- Working with Transition dorm and shelter staff regarding mutual clients.
- Networking with other agencies and taking/giving referrals.
Complete intake of new clients :
- Welcome and support new clients
- Conduct urine and breathalyzer test
- Process bag check
- Complete paperwork
- Tour of facility and introductions
- Assisting in bed-board and data base for accurate registration on Efforts to Outcome (ETO).
Rentals
- Setting up an income support with clients
- Communicating with Alberta Works, BFE, and AISH workers when needed
- Collecting monthly rentals and writing a monthly submission rental report
- Writing housing occurrence reports, write off forms, and refund request forms when needed
- helping clients to pay rentals through payment plan
- Following up on payment plan and collecting arrears
Support women in recovery :
- Build rapport with clients through active listening, counseling and prayer.
- Assist in program delivery as required.
- Facilitate a class
Administrative Tasks :
- Help in supervision of client chores
- Ensuring clients are following house policies
- Enter client related information into Efforts to Outcome (ETO) for and admissions, intake process.
Educational Requirements: Degree in Social Sciences/Nursing/Pastoral or other related field.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Possesses strong analytical skills and decision ability
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituents.
- Able to lead, manage and mentor a small team.
- Working knowledge of ETO is an asset
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Programs
- Driving is an asset

- Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
