BCIT’s School of Health Sciences Medical Laboratory Science Program requires a temporary, part-time (0.2 FTE) Instructor, Medical Laboratory Science Faculty to deliver the Clinical Microbiology curriculum.

- Design and develop curriculum and instructional materials in alignment with the CSMLS competency profile for Medical Laboratory Technologists
- Prepare supplementary course materials, including course outlines, schedules, and learning guides
- Plan and coordinate classroom activities and assessments with instructional colleagues.
- Deliver the course material to learners within BCIT’s quality assurance framework.
- Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners.
- Work in partnership with industry to identify best practices that inform the development of new learning outcomes for the clinical microbiology curriculum.
- Research and procure educational teaching technology or equipment to support learning outcomes.
- Perform other instructional duties within the program as required.
- Perform other administrative duties as required, including student selection, program planning and committee work.

- Certified by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist (GMLT)
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institute preferred OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Note: current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science will be required in order to accept this position
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of recent, full-time, or equivalent experience in Clinical Microbiology
- Possess advanced clinical microbiology theoretical knowledge and technical skills
- Demonstrable teaching, training, or mentoring skills for students, colleagues, or other clients
- Experience in developing and implementing educational tools, standards, or practices
- Knowledge and experience with all MS Office Productivity Tools and various meeting platforms

Salary Range
Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
