The Housekeeper provides cleaning services to Seniors as part of our Better at Home program designed to assist seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so they can continue to live independently in their homes and stay connected to their communities.
What you’d be doing:
- Works with Better at Home Program Coordinator to develop ongoing client schedule.
- Contacts client to confirm scheduled appointments.
- Conducts cleaning orientation with new clients to ensure understanding of client service requirements and expectations. This will include confirming services that will or will not be provided.
- Travels between client residences.
- Adheres to proper handling of chemicals and general health and safety practices.
- Protects equipment and reports any inadequacies to the Program Coordinator.
- Completes Client Sign Off Sheet and submits monthly tally of services provided.
- Notifies the Program Coordinator of any incidents or incidental damages.
- Checks supply levels of all consumables and replaces when appropriate.
- Deals with reasonable requests with professionalism and patience.
- Performs a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing including:
- Clearing away dishes after a meal
- Hanging towels to dry or places in laundry
- Cleaning sinks, bathtub, shower, toilet
- Wiping spills and sanitizes surfaces
- Changing bed linens
- Dusting off surfaces
- Tending to house plants
- Disposing of trash
- Tidying cluttered areas
- Sweeping and vacuuming floors
- Organizing closets and drawers
- Ensuring all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
What you bring:
- Grade 10 Education and six months of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- Residential/Housekeeping/Nanny/Care home experience is a definite asset.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- WHMIS training will be provided
- Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Confidentiality as per Agency, professional association, and legislative requirements
