Job Title: Housekeeper – Guest House
Location: North York – Cummer and Willowdale – approximately 1 km from Finch Station and on the #42 Cummer bus route
Reports To: Guest House Manager
Hourly Rate: $21.66
Start Date: September 2025
Position Summary
As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for our guests. This position is central to supporting the spirit of hospitality that defines our organization.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, dusting, polishing, vacuuming, mopping, and rug cleaning with care and attention to detail.
- Manage laundry duties including washing, drying, folding, ironing, and distributing clean linen.
- Monitor linen quality and notify the Manager when items need repair or replacement.
- Stay familiar with and complete daily, weekly, and seasonal cleaning routines.
- Order and maintain cleaning and laundry supplies to ensure stock is always adequate.
- Communicate maintenance needs or repairs to the Guest House Manager.
- Report any unusual incidents or concerns within the Guest House/convent.
- Be cross trained to assist in other departments when needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in housekeeping, hospitality, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the organization and guests.
- A welcoming demeanor and respectful, confidential approach to work.
- Secondary school education or higher.
- Mending and sewing skills are considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (11.3 kg) and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable using and being around cleaning products.
