Position: Full-Time Hot Meals Manager

Location: Vanderwerf's Your Independent Grocer. Port Elgin, Ontario

  • Hours: Must be available 7 days a week between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. (scheduled shifts within these hours)

About the Role:

We’re looking for a reliable, highly organized Hot Meals Manager to oversee the preparation, presentation, and quality of all hot food served. This is a hands-on management position that requires strong leadership, excellent time management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily hot meal preparation and service to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with food safety standards.

Manage and schedule kitchen and support staff to ensure proper coverage during operational hours.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food presentation.

Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste.

Train and mentor staff on food preparation, cooking techniques, and safety protocols.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Coordinate with other managers to ensure smooth overall operations.

Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.

Job Requirements:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures (Food Handler’s or Food Manager Certification an asset).

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work long shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
