Position: Home Visitation Worker – 9 Months Maternity Leave Coverage 30hr/week Tues- Fri $25/hr.
Expected Start Date: July/August 2025

We are Looking to hire a temporary Home Visitation Worker for maternity leave coverage. You will work directly with Centre for Young Parents adolescents and their families to provide quality wrap-around care. You will support the development of healthy coping & life skills, enhance family functioning, improve outcomes for children and increase protective factors for all members of the family. You will be committed to providing nonjudgmental, family centered support services to pregnant teens and young families, through various intervention models which would include group facilitation and in-home support.

Responsibilities & Main Duties
95% of the duties and responsibilities of this position are to be in support of clients
5% of the duties and responsibilities of this position can be used to attend meetings or conduct admin roles not associated with client goals but instead community or agency goals.
Key responsibilities include assessment of family systems/dynamics, development of intervention strategies, supporting/coaching families to reach goals, and monitoring the implementation of plans.
This position provides instruction and assistance to parents to learn behavior management skills, assertiveness and general parenting skills.
Programming (Development, delivery, monitoring and reporting)
- Develops individual and family support plans based on assessment to assist families to understand and support the child's development, to enhance their parenting techniques and increase personal capacity which builds resiliency for family.
- Provide home visitation on a regular basis to observe, assess, and provide support to families.
- To plan, facilitate and or co-facilitate various educational and or support groups.
- Monitors family interactions and achievement of specific goals, ensures family systems support treatment and identifies additional community-based resources needed to assist the family.
- Liaises with community agencies, schools, and others involved with the family/child to maintain awareness of family needs and support.
- Prepare detailed records documenting all contact with the family and collection of data required for outcome reporting in a timely manner.
- Participate as a member of a team to provide input on family outcomes and to make recommendations for additional resources, changes in treatment strategies, and options for assisting a family to meet their needs.
- Daily client transportation.
- Maintain healthy boundaries and a professional relationship with the families we serve.
- Provide support to the children in the Nursery as needed.

Knowledge, skill and abilities
· Interview, assessment, and counselling skills.
· Familiarity with various intervention models which support positive outcomes for children and families.
· Knowledge with Great Kids Incorporated Curriculum is an asset
· Knowledge of child development to understand/recognize the child's level of functioning and interpret this information to assist the family in their interaction with the child.
· Knowledge of family systems/dynamics within a culturally sensitive and trauma informed practice to recognize issues impacting teen and child behavior and to adapt approaches and modify activities to support positive parenting practices.
· Knowledge of community resources to connect clients with additional support.
· Ability to advocate effectively on behalf of families.
· Outreach and engagement skills to reach clients that may be hard to engage.
· Verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse clients, community stakeholders (such as Child Services workers, teachers and family) as well as with members of the team.
· Adaptability skills to change courses mid-stream while balancing the diverse tasks within the role.
· Knowledge of Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, Children First Act, Protection of Children Abusing Drugs Act, and any additional legislation relevant to population.
Renumeration:
Wage: $25/ hr.
30 hours per week (0830-1630) 7.5 hrs. X4 days) 30-minute unpaid break
2 Weeks paid vacation
Christmas /New Year paid time off as per GPPSD Calander
Spring break paid time off as per GPPSD calendar

Experience and Education
Diploma / Degree in Child and Youth Care, in Social Services Field or Social Work or related experience.
Related Experience could be:
- Working with youth
- Working in families
- Delivering Case Management Services to either population
Requirements
· Alberta Class 4 driver’s license with vehicle for work purposes with appropriate insurance, clean drivers abstract (less than 5 demerits)
· Criminal Record including a vulnerable sector check, C.Y.I.M. (within 1 month)
· Suicide Intervention Training and Cultural Sensitivity
· Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
· Ability to move/lift to 50 pounds
Supervision Received
Regular meetings with Program Manager on a monthly basis, team meetings.
Evaluation:
Completed twice a year by supervisor
