Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP is looking for a committed and safety-focused Highway Road Patroller to join our growing team. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for monitoring road conditions and ensuring the ongoing maintenance and safety of our highway network. This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and reports directly to the Road Manager.
Who we are:
Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP was awarded a contract by Chinook Highway Operations Inc., a joint venture between SNC-Lavalin Operations & Maintenance Inc. and Acciona Concessions Canada (2008) Inc. This contract covers maintenance services such as road repair, snow removal, and lighting upkeep for the Southeast Stoney Trail (SEST). The SEST Project represents a public-private partnership (P3) between the Alberta Government and Chinook Roads Partnership, marking one of Alberta's most significant P3 highway infrastructure undertakings. What you bring:
- Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is required
- Proficient in driving standard transmission
- Previous experience in construction and/or highway maintenance is an asset
- Ability to work shifts (including night shift)
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Willing to work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to obtain a Traffic Control (TCP) Ticket
- Able to carry out physical demands of the job
- Ability to solve problems, adapt and think quickly on-the-fly
This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct highway patrols
- Perform physical labour such as clearing vegetation, patching potholes, and other heavy lifting tasks
- Inspect multi-use pathways, highway shoulders, and interchanges to ensure they are free of debris
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip checks
- Maintain concern for the safety and wellbeing of all road users
- Undertake traffic control duties as needed
- Execute other job responsibilities as required
