Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery to do base prep, earth moving, snow clearing (in the winter), street sweeping (in the spring/summer), demolition, grading and excavation projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with equipment such as loaders, excavators and street sweepers. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of projects while ensuring safety and efficiency on the job site.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, loaders, and street sweepers for various construction tasks.
- Perform digging, trenching, grading, paving, sweeping and snow clearing operations as required by project specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate with team members to complete work for construction activities.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist in training new operators on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Eligibility to work in Canada without restrictions.
- Clear driver's abstract with no at-fault accidents in the last year.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as backhoes, loaders, street sweepers, and other related equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance and repairs on machinery.
- Valid class 3a license or better.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Available to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
- Attention to detail and commitment to following safety regulations.
- Willing to train less experienced operators
