Oakcreek Golf & Turf LP is a leading Western Canadian OEM distributor of commercial turf maintenance and other equipment including Toro, Yamaha, Pisten Bully, BOSS Plow and Ventrac.
Our business seeks the addition of a Heavy Equipment / Field Service Technician (Heavy Duty Technician Journeyman preferred; however, will consider a suitable 2nd-year Apprentice or higher) for our Calgary, Alberta Head Office location.
Job Description
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
- Position is designed to be the primary Field/Lead Technician for our various product lines;
- Position is located in-shop with dispatched field service requiring travel to customer sites as needed;
- Position is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with overtime and overnight trips as needed;
- Inspecting the primary product lines including Toro Commercial Mowers, Yamaha Golf cars and Pisten Bully snowcats, etc. to detect faults and malfunctions in both shop and field locations;
- Perform routine maintenance on all Oakcreek product lines, including, but not limited to, oil and fluid changes, lubrications and other routine maintenance on equipment;
- Installation of various Oakcreek product line accessories, including, but not limited to canopies, decks, tillers, winches, blades, etc.;
- Perform diagnostics and determine extent of repair required on defective products due to fault or malfunction;
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools;
- Service attachments and working tools;
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications;
- Travel to customer locations as directed from time to time by your manager and/or foreman to perform on-site any of the duties outlined above.
Candidate Profile
- Heavy Duty Technician Journeyman preferred but not required. Will consider 2nd year apprentice or higher with intent to complete certification in the future;
- Minimum two to five years of related work experience;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Advanced Hydraulic and Electrical diagnostics knowledge is preferred;
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer diagnostics is preferred;
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines;
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize issues;
- Excellent verbal communication skills;
- Ability to be self-motivated and work independently as well as with a team;
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels and departments;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results;
- You will be required to provide your own tools in a tool box that is able to be lifted into a service vehicle via forklift. Some job specific and specialty tools are provided as “shop tools” to complete certain jobs;
- A valid and clean class 5 driver’s abstract is required as this position will utilize a company vehicle for service calls based from our shop location.
- You may be required to travel to the US or abroad for vendor-specific certification. A valid passport and ability to enter the US or abroad is a requirement for this position.
