Reports to: Paladin Security Group Ltd. - Site Security Lead
Shifts: Saturday to Sunday, 0000-0800hrs
Pay Rate: $23-24

Scope:
Reporting to the Site Security Lead (SSL), the Healthcare Security Officer plays an integral role to the overall success of the security team. This position requires an individual to be adaptable to different environments and to know the Site Orders allowing them to carry out the duties that entail.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Security Officers duties include, but are not limited to, numerous interior and exterior patrols of buildings, securing and unlocking doors, access control and securing requested areas, responding to alarms and emergency calls, enforcing Health Authority policies and procedures, and reporting maintenance and emergency issues.
- Security Officers are also first responders to all code calls which include fire alarms, aggression, first aid emergencies, hazardous material spills, and other officer assistance requests/calls.
- Security Officers are required to complete Shift Summary Reports (SSR) and SIRS incident reports for PSG’s client.
- Day to day interactions with patients/clinical staff/visitors can be stressful and require officers to deal with people in an effective and straightforward manner while still maintaining a high standard of service.
- Present a valid Security License to the Shift Supervisor prior to the commencement of one’s shift; carry while on shift and present it when requested.
- Act as a resource an additional for Security Officers with issues, in accordance with PSG, hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Shift Supervisors assigned to the shift detail with responsibilities delegated to them.
- Assist with monthly fire drills and safety inspections; assist the Shift Supervisors by maintaining records, and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Perform fire extinguisher inspections once per Health Authority Fiscal Period, and assist the Shift Supervisors with the preparation of replacement/service reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Perform Panic Alarm System tests once per Health Authority Fiscal Period without fail and prepare incident reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Assist Shift Supervisors with site orientation and training of new officers, ensuring site orientation packages and officer review tests are completed within the allotted training period.
- Security Officers will sometimes be asked to step in and help with extra duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of one year security experience
- Completion of Intermediate First Aid (IFA) certificate would be considered an asset
- Must adhere to and be familiar with PSG OH&S standards and requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
