Overview
ABG is a growing and privately owned engineering consulting firm. We are seeking a high-level geomatics technician, drafter and experienced surveyor, or possibly professional surveyor/civil engineer to join our team ASAP. The work would primarily focus on providing office support to our survey field staff (up to 4 field engineers of varying experience) as we provide topographic survey plans, civil site-grading plans, civil construction layout/asbuilts to projects of varying sizes across Nunavut.
Our office is located in Elmsdale, NS and the preference would be full-time office presence; however, some flexibility and hybrid style work can be accommodated easily. Currently we use an outside company to provide professional survey support to our team of engineers (cross-trained to use latest GPS equipment to carry out field survey, layout and asbuilts) and prepare all our drawings. The workload is building up year after year and we now warrant in-house capability.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive (10 years or more) mixture survey field experience and office based project management and drafting/drawing preparation experience, providing the services outlined above. You must be prepared to provide instruction and fixes for onsite issues via internet and phone, based on very good information provided by our team using drones and well prepared documentation/information. You must be prepared to reduce their field data and prepare high-level drawings for review by other ABG personnel and issuance direct to our clients.
The goal is to enable ABG to prepare in house topographic plans, site grading plans and asbuilt plans in a timely and professional manner. In general, our projects are most typically gravel surface parking lots with gravel surface site grading as required.
