We are currently looking for a caring, dedicated and attention to detail oriented General Support Worker.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows all policies, directives, procedures, rules, regulations and Acts pertaining to the operation of St. Michael’s Manor Vegreville
- Follows and adheres to Supportive Living’s expectations regarding Resident independence, choice, dignity, privacy, individuality and ensures a home-like environment for Residents
Housekeeping Duties
- Cleans common areas by washing furnishings, windows, walls, floors and equipment with designated cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of disease
- Sweeps, mops, wet washes and vacuums floors
- Empties trash baskets, and disposes of trash. Washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers and relines with paper or plastic bags
- Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors and similar equipment, replenishing supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items
- Uses dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to dust windowsills, blinds, floors and furniture
- Waters and cleans plants
- Maintains utility and linen supply room in good order
- Cleans equipment such as mops, buckets, vacuum cleaner and utility cart
- Performs duties in the main Laundry area as required
- Documents optional services provided, i.e. personal laundry, ironing, cleaning and reports to Manager for billing
- Checks condition of facility owned linens for worn spots or tears
- Ensures supplies (liquid soaps, etc.) are replenished and equipment and work areas are kept clean
- Distributes personal laundry and linens to and from the suites and kitchen area.Reports faulty equipment to the Manager
- Cleans the machines and work area as required
- Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion
- Cleans lighting fixtures, tops of windows, door frames and other high places, using a ladder when necessary
- Performs move out cleaning
- In Suites, vacuums, damp mops floors; cleans and sanitizes bathrooms. May provide optional services of wall washing, dusting, bed making, dishwashing, window cleaning and other optional services
Food Service Duties
- Follows menu plans
- Receives lunch and supper meals from delivery person and assists with meal service
- Ensures hot meal items are kept at required serving temperature in thermo containers or chafing dishes. Re-heats menu items for breakfast service as required
- Sets up dining areas for meal service including dishes, cutlery, linens and chafing dishes
- Serves meals to Residents in dining areas per meal service instructions, inquiries regarding meal satisfaction and reports to Manager
- Maintains adequate supply of glasses, cups, dishes and cutlery in dining areas
- Ensures dining areas are clean and maintained in an orderly fashion
- Ensures tables and chairs are cleaned after each meal
- Returns dirty dishes, cups, glasses, cutlery and other serving dishes to main kitchen
- Labels and appropriately stores left over food per instructions
- Keeps all foodstuffs appropriately categorized and stored
- Practice safe food handling techniques
- Washes dishes, glasses, cups, cutlery, inserts, chafing dishes and cambros
- Washes main kitchen floors, counters and equipment using specified cleaning solutions and ensures area is clean at all times
- Tracks staff and guest meals and reports to Manager for collection
- Tracks the number of lunch and supper meals consumed and reports changes in the number of required portions to the lunch and supper supplier
- Ensures food inventory is replenished and advises Manager when food must be ordered
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Supportive Living
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of Grade 10 education is required
- A friendly disposition and good interpersonal and communication skills are preferred
- Individual must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
- Must be willing to work closely with seniors, and/or physically/mentally challenged individuals and within the value system of St. Michael’s Health Group
