The Healing Oasis is a first-of-its-kind cancer wellness retreat in Canada, located on a serene 40-acre property in Lumby, BC, surrounded by pristine forests and a private lake, “Lake Renewal.” Operating from May 1 to October 1, we provide a compassionate, all-inclusive environment for individuals with cancer, offering seven cozy cabins, organic cancer-fighting meals, world-class alternative therapies, and holistic activities like yoga and forest walks. Our mission is to empower guests to heal through nature, nutrition, and non-toxic treatments across six 3-week cohorts. We seek a dedicated General Manager to lead our operations with excellence and empathy, ensuring a transformative experience for our guests.
Job Overview
We are hiring an experienced, compassionate, and driven General Manager to oversee all operations at The Healing Oasis during our seasonal operation (May 1 – October 1). We are more than half way through the 2025 season but looking for a general manager for the 2026 season and beyond. The role involves managing six 3-week guest cohorts, with 3 weeks of staff breaks spread throughout the season. The General Manager will live on-site in provided accommodations (no cost) in one of our accommodations and ensure the retreat runs flawlessly, maintaining the highest standards of care and efficiency. This physically and emotionally demanding role requires a leader passionate about helping people heal, with exceptional communication, problem-solving, and management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, including managing cabin cleaning, gardening/weeding, and coordination of therapies, meals, and activities, ensuring a serene, healing environment.
- Guest Care: Engage daily with guests to understand their needs, provide compassionate support, and enhance their wellness experience through personalized care.
- Staff Leadership: Manage a diverse team (chef, naturopathic doctor, concierge, etc.), ensuring roles are fulfilled, setting priorities, and fostering a collaborative, high-standard work environment.
- Problem Solving: Address operational and guest-related challenges promptly, filling in gaps (e.g., assisting with tasks) to maintain seamless operations.
- Communication: Maintain clear, honest, and compassionate communication with guests and staff, building trust and community.
- Facility Oversight: Ensure cabins (e.g., Cougar, Lynx, Elk) and facilities like the Healing Center and Rock Eatery are clean, safe, and functional, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Cohort Coordination: Manage schedules, resources, and logistics for six 3-week cohorts, ensuring each guest’s healing journey is optimized.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of proven general manager experience in hospitality, wellness retreats, or similar high-touch settings.
- Deep passion for helping individuals heal, particularly those with cancer, with a commitment to holistic wellness.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to maintain high standards in a serene, nature-focused retreat.
- Honest, compassionate, and an outstanding communicator, capable of building trust with guests and staff.
- Physically and emotionally resilient, with a strong work ethic to handle the demanding nature of the role.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff, set goals, and ensure flawless operations.
