The General Maintenance Technician (Industrial) will provide support to other members of the maintenance department and facilitate most tasks. This position will be responsible for smaller specific tasks and preventative maintenance tasks; they will also be responsible for most of the prep work involved in completing larger projects and will facilitate those projects with other members of the maintenance team. The ideal candidate would enjoy working with their hands and always be up for a challenge. This is an entry-level position and is geared towards candidates who have some introductory experience working in an industrial maintenance setting or have an interest in working in this industry. Some specific roles and responsibilities expected of the General Maintenance Technician (Industrial) are listed below; note this is not an exhaustive list.

- Lathe.
- Drill Press.
- Band Saw.
- Bridgeport Mill.
- Surface Grinder.
- Using fine measuring equipment such as verniers and micrometers.
- Doing daily and weekly Preventative Maintenance (PM) checklists such as checking oil levels and greasing bearings.
- Compressor checklists.
- Operating lift trucks and man lifts.
- Diagnosing breakdowns.
- Working with hydraulic presses.
- Plumbing- pneumatics, black pipe assemblies.
- Using large and small hand tools.
Welding:
- Mig (GMAW).
- Stick (SMAW).
- Aluminum.
- Working in a safe manner in accordance with OHSA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in Industrial Maintenance/Mechanics as an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Industrial Maintenance/Mechanics, Millwright, or similar program an asset.
- Punctuality and excellent attendance.
- Initiative and a “can-do” attitude towards tasks.
- Able to work on individual projects and collaborate with others.
- Able to take directions and follow instructions.
- Able to solve problem and troubleshoot solutions.
- Able to perform maintenance with operators and other employees in the area.
- Able to perform tasks in an efficient manner (i.e. timely yet safe); ability to understand deadlines.
- Able to prioritize and organize tasks.
