Overview
- Knowledge of Autism and Developmental Challenges
- Experienced in filling responsibilities as primary residential counselor and shift leader (self-help/life skills, programming, medication, behaviour management, documentation, etc)
- Participate in all scheduled Staff training/ meetings
- Practical knowledge/experience in Residential Services Sector with an awareness of regulations set forth in the Sector's CYFSA
- Hours are based on a schedule that includes evenings and weekends
Qualifications/Experience:
- Must possess necessary educational requirements (DSW, CYW, SSW, University Degree or equivalent)
- Must have worked full-time in the field of Special Needs for minimum of 2 years
- Reliable and professional with good interactive communication skills (verbal and written) and strong work ethic
- Organized individual who meets the needs of the children in care
- Behaviour Management
- Good Time Management and team building skills
- Ability to provide leadership assistance to others in a supportive/objective manner
- Ability to liaison with outside agencies and other professionals
- Supervision of part-time/ relief staff as required
- Class G Driver's License is mandatory to assist with medical appointments and community programming
- Demonstrate a caring, respectful, non-judgmental attitude
