We are seeking a career-oriented hospitality professional to fulfill the role of Front of House Food & Beverage Manager. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the F.O.H. Manager will oversee the daily operations of our restaurant, bar, snack bar, beverage cart and banquets/events. The F.O.H. Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our food, drinks, and service, managing the inventory and budget, supervising/training and delegating duties as required and maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction. You will work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, and Club Chef to develop and implement new menus, promotions, and strategies to increase sales, profitability, staff development and retention.
Experience
- Background in tourism and hospitality industry, membership-based, golf course operations experience is an asset.
- To be successful in this role, you should have experience in food & beverage management, preferably in a similar setting.
Duties & Tasks
- In conjunction with Food & Beverage Manager, implement policies and procedures for food and beverage service.
- Lead and maintain a culture of accountability, respect, equality, empowerment, empathy, trust & appreciation.
- Brainstorm and suggest opportunities for revenue generation, effective cost controls and guest satisfaction.
- Effective orientation, training, and follow-up with all food & beverage department staff, including Food & Beverage Supervisors.
- Ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other outlined procedures are consistently met.
- Active Member of the Health & Safety committee. Providing leadership in health & safety training, administration, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures for sales and cost control.
- Prepare schedules for service & support staff to meet service expectations, while adhering to budgeted labour costs. Troubleshoot and correct challenging service periods and emergency staffing requirements.
- Prepare liquor and beer orders, monitor confection items and supplies, communicate any requirements to the Food & Beverage Manager or as directed.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws/legislation.
- Monitor supplies to ensure required products/items are available and the correct price is charged for all purchases.
- Hire, train, and mentor front of house team members.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Work Conditions
- Primarily inside work with some outside work.
- Non-Smoking environment.
- 75% F.O.H. service management 25% administration.
- Physically demanding work is required, including moving, lifting, and setting up rooms/furniture, recieving all liquor orders & supplies.
- Required to work on a shift basis including evenings, weekends & holidays.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, demanding environment, always maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
Professional & Technical Knowledge
- Valid Pro Serve certification or willing to obtain.
- Combination of education and experience related to the industry with a strong business acumen and above average knowledge of industry best practices.
- Basic knowledge of P.O.S (Jonas) system and programming, an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other industry tools.
- Extensive knowledge of Food & Beverages preparation & recipes
Time Considerations
- Must be able to meet aggressive deadlines as required.
- Work efficiently in a non-supervised leadership position.
- Available and flexible for a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays, closing and opening shifts, as necessary.
- Extended hours during peak golf and event season, Available as required.
- This is a year-round term position.
