Position Summary
The Shift Lead Cashier is responsible for supervising front-end operations, ensuring efficient and accurate transactions, and providing outstanding customer service. This position serves as the go-to person for the cashier team during assigned shifts, helping to coordinate workflow, resolve customer concerns, and support store leadership with daily operations. The Shift Lead will perform all standard cashier duties while also assuming leadership responsibilities such as training new employees, managing breaks and shift coverage, and assisting with opening and closing procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates reliability, strong communication, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced retail environment.
Job Structure
This is a part time, hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and demonstrate optimal customer service.
- Supervise and support cashier team during assigned shifts.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations professionally.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and POS transactions.
- Perform daily opening and closing duties (register balancing, safe counts, etc.)
- Train and mentor new and existing cashiers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly checkout area.
- Monitor break schedules and ensure proper shift coverage.
- Enforce company policies and loss prevention procedures.
- Communicate with management regarding shift performance, issues, or improvements.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- 1 year experience working cashiering, retail or customer service.
- Prior leadership or shift supervisor experience preferred.
- Proficient in handling cash, operating registers, and managing receipts.
- Ability to contribute to a team culture in fast paced work environment.
- Passion for food and community.
- Demonstrated organization skills.
- Multi-tasking skills.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
