THE ROLE
As the Formwork Carpenter you are expected to be engaged in our safety program, executing work in a safe manner, in adherence with CANA policies and all applicable code regulations and the Act.
Construct, fabricate and install concrete forms in accordance with site specific requirements and job scope.- Construct and erect columns and cores; suspended slabs; and stairs.
- Operate hand tools, power actuated tools as required to perform tasks including inspecting and ensuring proper safe use.
- Install heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails and barriers as required.
- Erect scaffold and related support as necessary.
- Read Blueprints and/or getting instructions from supervision.
- Prepare layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work.
- Install shoring.
- Remove/strip forms.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
- Other tasks and duties as required on the jobsite.
- The position requires physically demanding motions and tasks
- Candidates are required to be in good physical condition, fit for work and prepared to work on project sites outside in all seasons and weather
WHAT YOU BRING
- Canadian Journeyman Carpentry Certificate and competent in the Carpentry Trade
- Experience working with wall and slab formwork systems such as Peri and Doka
- Valid Driver’s License or means of transportation to project sites.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a team
- A good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.
