Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Structural Steel Fitter with hands-on experience in fabricating, assembling, and fitting structural steel assemblies, especially columns and beams. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, use precision tools, and operate safely in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, assemble, and fit structural steel components, including columns and beams.
- Rig, hoist, and move materials safely to and from the workstation.
- Lay out reference points and symbols on structural steel as per blueprint instructions.
- Fit and assemble metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting, or other approved methods.
- Use various tools including torches, drills, grinders, clamps, and measuring devices.
- Follow all safe work practices and ensure proper PPE is worn at all times.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentices and junior fitters.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of structural steel fitting/welding experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using tape measures (metric and imperial).
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
- In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Permanent: Full Time Position
Pay Rate: $28-$34
A valid CWB ticket is required.
Suitable candidates will be assigned to start work immediately – same day or next day.
Job Type: Full-time
