Position Overview

The Real Estate, Facilities, and Economic Development department requires a Temporary Full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker I in the Facilities division for approximately 1 year.
Responsibilities
You will perform routine maintenance and custodial work involving the care and upkeep of outside areas adjacent to civic facilities. Duties include cleaning and sweeping public areas, removing litter and weeds from landscaped areas, leaf blowing, pressure washing, cleaning out catch basins and fountain areas, and clearing snow and salting sidewalks, walkways, and grounds. You will also perform minor repairs to site furniture, replacing lights, and assisting in event setup and take down.
Requirements
You will have hands-on experience in basic building/facility maintenance and repairs as well as skills in the use and care of tools and equipment. You will use your knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.
Compensation
$28.37 to $33.25 per hour
Pay Grade 14 (2024 Rates)
Hours of Work
The hours of work are eight and one-half (8.5) consecutive hours, inclusive of an unpaid one (1) hour meal break, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The City of North Vancouver currently works a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
Additional Information
For Temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
