The role involves contributing to our scrap cleanup crew as an Excavator Operator and 1A Driver. Successful candidates may be expected to train for the position and start by driving Class 1 vehicles for three to six months. After the successful completion of this training period, candidates would transition into the Excavator Operator role. Responsibilities include on-site material processing, removal, equipment transportation, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Navigate to and from job sites.
- Assist in loading and removing scrap material.
- Engage with customers and assess pre-work site conditions.
- Ensure proper team logistics are communicated and followed.
- Drive an 18-speed manual transmission semi-truck
Desired Traits:
- Demonstrates practical judgment and a commitment to quality work.
- Proficient and cautious in equipment operation.
- Positive attitude and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 year of Class 1A driving experience.
- 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience.
- Willingness to travel and work on the road.
- Off-road experience is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Experience leading a team is a plus.
This position requires candidates to
- Have and maintain a valid Class 1 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
- Successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug and alcohol testing.
- Successfully complete a background check.
- Work extended hours and travel to various work sites with overnight stays away from home on a 5 on, 3 off schedule (4 nights on the road and 4 nights at home).
