Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to join our team. The operator will primarily be responsible for crushing wood and loading trailers, while ensuring safe and efficient yard operations. This role requires attention to detail, safe equipment handling, and a willingness to be cross-trained to direct yard flow when required.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily equipment checks (fluids, inspections, startup procedures).
- Pre-load the operating pad each morning to ensure safe machine use.
- Operate the excavator to crush wood and load trailers.
- Alternate between loading trailers and crushing wood as needed.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Learn to direct yard flow; provide coverage when the senior operator is away.
- Follow all company and site-specific safety protocols.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of excavator operating experience (material handling preferred).
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment safety.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
- Willingness to be cross-trained for additional responsibilities.
