Reporting to the Manager, Evaluation and Impact, the Evaluation & Impact Specialist is involved in multiple evaluation tasks. Peak periods of the year – April to June and November through January - experience high volumes of work and competing demands.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

What You Will Do

Design and implement all aspects of quantitative and qualitative evaluations, including but not limited to:

  • Support clarification of goals/objectives.
  • Logic model and evaluation framework development, including indicator selection and operationalization.
  • Instrument selection and/or development.
  • Data collection planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Analytic design and planning.
  • Data management, cleaning, analysis, interpretation.
  • Report results in multiple, audience-specific formats.
  • Serve as an evaluation subject matter expert and as key contact for programs to plan, implement, and monitor data collection.
  • Create reports and dashboards for internal audiences and funders.
  • Create and maintain reporting and evaluation planning, process, and methods documentation.
  • Engage and support internal teams in the understanding and use of data.
  • Perform literature reviews.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Graduate degree in evaluation, social science, public health, or a related field is required.
  • Equivalent training/experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum three years’ experience with quantitative project evaluation.
  • Experience conducting all elements of quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Preference will be given to candidates with robust knowledge and experience in qualitative methods.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of skills and experience in statistical methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to communicate qualitative and quantitative evaluation results in engaging ways customized to audience need and planned data use.
  • Good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to receive direction and to collaborate with others to achieve agreed upon goals.
  • Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the social determinants of health and vulnerable populations.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action is preferred.

Work Environment and Hours

  • Primarily working from The Alex Community Health Centre: 2840 – 2 Ave SE, Calgary, AB.
  • 1.0 FTE (37.5 hrs /week)
  • Standard hours 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday; some flexibility in schedule may be available.
  • Continuous periods of sitting, with some standing and walking (sometimes up/down stairwells).
