- Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
- Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday – Thursday)
- Term lengths: 8 or 12 months
- Term starts: May or September 2026
- Safety sensitive position: Yes
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist the Upgrading and Utilities Engineering Team in activities relating to operations, maintenance or construction support
- Understand process plant operation and equipment
- Collaborate with the Project and Operations teams to ensure proper alignment with operations needs and requirements
- Review assets and data to see where we can improve the frequency of maintenance and be able to improve our uptime on equipment
- Assist engineers in producing maintenance work packages
- Gather field measurements & data to assist engineers
- Assist in checking designs executed by engineering contractors
- Assist in evaluation of equipment purchase specifications
- Coordinate with various disciplines and departments within Operations or Major Projects to resolve engineering issues
- Assist with creating and maintaining project deliverables such as Lessons Learned Logs, Request For Information forms, Technical Deviation Requests
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Chemical or Process Engineering or within one year of graduation
- Previous engineering experience is considered an asset
- Previous field experience an asset
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract and comfortable driving work trucks in a safe manner
